史作檉先生生於一九三四年中國大陸山東濟南，一九四九年隨父親移居台灣。
他擅長以全史觀的視野從哲學、心理學、藝術等層面，思考現實的人生信仰、生命現象、文化理念等諸多與人的存在相關的課題，並兼及詩歌創作和繪畫。史作檉是當代極其重要的哲學思想家，更曾被中國大陸「北京大學出版社」喻之為華人世界唯一活著的哲學家。

史作檉於一九六二年畢業於台灣大學哲學系研究所，後開始任教於新竹中學，從事研究與教學工作。他也曾任教於台灣大學、文化大學，並在各大學巡迴演講，長期舉辦講座，深受各方好評；著作多達數十多部，影響深廣。

其研究可簡略分為三個時期。第一個時期是四十歲以前以近於詩歌的方式來撰寫散文與小說來探索生命的本原與存在的意義。第二個時期是四十歲到五十歲之間，撰寫形上學的方法導論，共有四部十一冊。第三個時期從五十歲到現在，從《哲學人類學》至今已有十幾本專著的出版，經由人類文明的發展歷程中探求生命的根本內涵，在原始與人文的文明差異中彰顯生命自體的價值，此三個時期實際上是相互擴充與完成。

史作檉以生命的實踐來印證哲學，以哲學的思辨來豐富生命的內涵。他統合人、自然與文明間的互動關係，從藝術、哲學、道德、宗教與科學等深度文明處，重新定位新世紀的文明走向，並且從「文字」的表達上溯到「圖形」與「聲音」的表達，保持了人與自然間最直接的關係。終其一生，史作檉對於生命始終進行著永無止息的哲理省思與實踐。

A Brief Introduction to Shi Zuocheng

Shi Zuocheng was born in Shandon Jinan, China, in 1934, moving to Taiwan with his father in 1949. He is good at thinking about the reality of life beliefs, life phenomena, cultural ideas, and many other issues related to human existence, and poetry and painting, from the perspective of the whole history of philosophy, psychology, art, etc. Shi Zuocheng is critical of contemporary philosophical thinkers. He was ever likened to the only living philosopher in the Chinese world by ‘‘Beijing University Press’’ in mainland China.

Shi Zuocheng graduated from the institute of philosophy, National Taiwan University in 1962. Then, he began teaching in Hsinchu High School, engaging in research and teaching. He also taught in National Taiwan University, Chinese Culture University, and delivered a lecture at various universities, holding a lecture for a long time, well received by the parties. He has more than dozens of works and the profound influence.

Shi Zuocheng’s research can be briefly divided into three periods. The first period is to explore the origin of life and the meaning of existence in the way that is close to poetry to write prose and novel before the age of forty. The second period is between 40 to 50 years old, writing the introduction to metaphysics method, a total of four of the eleven books. The third period is from the age of 50 to now, from the ‘‘Philosophical Anthropology’’ has been more than a dozen books published, through the development process of human civilization to explore the basic connotation of life, and to demonstrate the value of life itself in the original and human civilization differences. These three periods are actually mutual expansion and completion.

Shi Zuocheng confirms philosophy with the practice of life, and enriches the connotation of life by philosophical speculation. He integrates the interaction between human, nature and civilization. From the deep civilization of art, philosophy, ethics, religion and science, he repositions the civilization of the new century. Moreover, from the ‘‘text’’ expression traces back to the ‘‘graphics’’ and ‘‘sound’’ expression, which maintains the most direct relationship between human and nature. Throughout his life, Shi Zuocheng keeps never cease philosophical thinking and practice for life.
